Major in the Majors

C.S. Lewis said, “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”  These words harmonize with the message of the Bible.

Paul said, if this life is all there is, live for this world while you can, because life is short.  He said, “If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." (1Co 15:32)

On the other hand, if the teachings of Christianity are true, the only thing that matters is being prepared to spend eternity with God.  Paul said gaining Christ is far and away the most important thing.  “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.” (Phi 3:8)

There is no point in being a half-hearted Christian.  Jesus says he will spit lukewarm believers out his mouth (Rev. 3:16).

Live consistently with your belief in God.  Live a life that only makes sense if Christianity is true.  Through everything you say and do, express the infinite importance of a right relationship with God. “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1Co 10:31)-Paul
