Obedience

Oswald Chambers said, “The best measure of a spiritual life is not its ecstasies, but its obedience.”  What does your obedience to God say about your spiritual health?

We are to speak of our love for God, but Jesus says that if we truly love him, we will obey him.  Jesus says, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

We are to place our faith in God, but again, genuine faith leads us to works of obedience.  James says, “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works.  Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (James 2:17,18)

Devote yourself to learning God’s will and living by it.  Christ’s blood cleanses us of all sin as we stumble while seeking to follow him (1John 1:7).  But if we live for this world while occasionally paying lip-service to God, we won’t have done enough.  "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) -Paul
