God Chooses to Work Through Broken People
You may think your problems disqualify you from being useful to God, but they don’t. God satisfied thousands of hungry people with one young boy’s lunch; He raised the dead; and He can certainly work through you, regardless of your state. Not only can God work through broken people, He chooses too.
As Vance Havner wrote, “God uses broken things. It takes broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength. It is the broken alabaster box that gives forth perfume. It is Peter, weeping bitterly, who returns to greater power than ever.”
If you have a sense of smug, self-sufficiency, you’re like the Laodiceans whom Jesus describes as “wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” (Rev. 3:17) In reality, we’re all weak, broken, and bankrupt without God. The key to success in life is knowing we have a great need that only God can fill.
The solution to your broken state is putting yourself in God’s hands and letting him put the pieces back together to make a masterpiece. Remember what Jesus told Paul concerning his thorn in the flesh. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (2Cor. 12:9) -Paul
